O Marisquiño is already the largest Urban Culture and Action Sports event in southern Europe, featuring four Olympic disciplines among its activities: Skateboarding (WCS), BMX, Breaking, and 3x3 Basketball (FIBA), as well as Dirt Jump (FMB Gold Event), where the world's best riders come together. It is a great free outdoor festival held in the month of August, by the sea, on the beach and in the city, bringing together over three days more than ten sports competitions, as well as various urban art, cultural, and entertainment events.
The festival was founded in 2001 as a simple and family-friendly Skateboarding championship in Castro de Vigo, gradually growing and moving its activities from Castro to Samil Beach and later to the Port of Vigo. Over the course of 23 years, attendance has grown from 2,000 friends to over 160,000 people in recent years. Now, finally, the festival returns to its origins, and both Skateboarding, BMX, and Dirt Jump will be held at the legendary Samil Beach, where O Marisquiño has already experienced extraordinary unforgettable moments. There is no more spectacular setting in our country than the Cíes Islands, and most of the event will take place in front of them this year.
In 2023, the festival will feature Skateboarding, BMX, Flatland, 3x3 Basketball, MTB, Dirt Jump, and Break Dance disciplines, as well as live music, Graffiti, Rap Battles, etc., with more activities yet to be confirmed.
The festival takes place on the second weekend of August, 11th, 12th, and 13th, and each edition attracts over 160,000 people who enjoy the competitions, exhibitions, concerts, gastronomy, and the unique atmosphere created around the event at the city's Maritime Port of Vigo.
Map of the event
Vigo (Pontevedra). O Marisquiño has its main hub at Samil Beach, the most important beach in the city with the Cíes Islands in the background. This space is destined to become a hallmark of the festival for the future. Within an area of 200,000 square meters, the major events of the festival take place by the sea, including Skateboarding, BMX, Dirt Jump, Break Dance, and Flatland. The FIBA 3x3 Basketball competition will be held at the Paseo de las Avenidas in the Port area, and the Battle Rap will take place at the renewed Porta do Sol in Vigo. Finally, the Urban Descent race unfolds from the Castro Fortress to Plaza do Berbés, offering one of the most original courses in the world with a mix of mountain and urban sections. It's a city-wide display that sets the path for 2025, when O Marisquiño will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
