Adaptive BMX
WHAT
For the first time in the history of the festival, O Marisquiño incorporates the discipline of Adapted BMX, a competition that will bring together international riders with disabilities who have become global references in freestyle BMX. Athletes who not only dominate the sport but also inspire thousands of people with their stories, talent, and determination.
This initiative is made possible thanks to the collaboration with the BIMBA Y LOLA Foundation, an entity committed to inclusion and positive impact through art, culture and sport. The foundation renews its collaboration with Marisquiño to continue promoting adapted sports and creating more diverse and accessible spaces.
WHERE
At Samil beach (Vigo), in the same BMX Freestyle circuit that hosts the official competition. A mixed park of street and ramp where each rider can freely choose the modules that best suit their abilities and style, without the need for structural modifications.
A location that offers greater comfort for the public and riders, while also allowing to showcase to the world the spectacular natural surroundings of Samil beach and the Cíes Islands.
HOW
The competition is presented as a unique proposal that brings together in the same format a selection of invited riders and a small open event open to the public, allowing established riders to coexist with new talents.
On one hand, eight national and international riders, leaders in the adaptive BMX scene worldwide, have been specially selected for their experience and competitive level to represent the best of this discipline. Their presence will provide quality, spectacle, and visibility to the event, showcasing the high performance and evolution of adaptive BMX in the global landscape.
Alongside them, on equal terms and sharing the circuit, will participate the riders of a small open event open to everyone, a call without filters aimed at expanding the base of the sport and offering a real opportunity for growth.
Awards
All riders, both invited and from the open, will compete for the same cash prizes as the official category of the championship, in a clear commitment to equity, visibility, and recognition of talent without barriers.
