TopShots Marisquiño 2026: Josito Gómez

BMX, FMX, Big Air, MTB Downtown, Skate... Josito Gómez was one of the photographers responsible for capturing the action at Marisquiño 2026 and the only one who followed with his camera the spectacular descent of MTB Downtown through the streets of Vigo. But among thousands of photos of tricks, jumps, and competition, one of his favorite images was born far from any planning: during one of the sunsets at Samil.

It was Thursday, the first day of the festival, and Josito and filmmaker Ángel Zorraquino had a mission: to make the most of one of those sunsets that turn Samil into a unique setting. Their first idea was to photograph and film BMX with the sun setting over the Atlantic, but a change in schedules meant the park was full of riders training. And time was running out: the sun doesn’t wait.

Ángel then had an idea. They called skater Joan Galceran and asked him for ten minutes to try to get the shot. They still had to find the location and ended up improvising it right on Samil’s seafront promenade, framing the shot while keeping an eye on the people passing by. Joanet also had his share of pressure: he had to land the trick before the sun disappeared. After several attempts and with the last minutes of light, the moment came. Trick, sunset, and photo.
