BEAUTY begins its screening tour with an award

The documentary BEAUTY, shot during Marisquiño’s 25th anniversary, has begun its festival run by winning the Best Documentary Short Film Award at the FICDA – International Film Festival for Diversity in Sagunto.

The project explores the international rise of adapted skateboarding and BMX within contemporary urban culture, moving away from traditional narratives about disability to show a more natural, collective, and connected perspective with the reality of the scene. It does so by following the experience of Alejandro Marín, mechanical engineer and orthoprosthetics specialist, during his time at the Vigo festival, where he discovers an international community of adapted riders that is redefining the limits of urban sport.

BEAUTY is a production by Café Films and Womack Studios, distributed by Line Up Film Agency and directed by José del Corral and Edu Muñoz. Following its success in Sagunto, the documentary will be shown at other festivals and in other cities. More information soon.

Pioneers of inclusivity

Marisquiño thus emerges as one of the pioneering festivals in making room for adapted disciplines within action sports. An initiative that began in 2024 with skateboarding, which continued for the 25th anniversary with the addition of BMX and which will continue as a hallmark commitment of the Vigo festival.
